Notice of Merger of St. Joseph Medical Center Maryland Federal Credit Union & First Financial Federal Credit Union of Mayland

Dear St. Joseph Medical Center member,

We have some exciting news to share with you! On March 18, 2025, the members of St. Joseph Medical Center Maryland Federal Credit Union (SJMC) voted at a meeting on the proposal to merge with First Financial Federal Credit Union of Maryland (First Financial). By majority vote, the merger was approved and will be legally effective 04/16/2025, subject to final regulatory approvals, however there will be no noticeable changes in service of your accounts until the system conversion on 06/1/2025.

How will this merger affect our members?

Until June 1, there will be no difference in your accounts. You’ll still have access to the same SJMC office and services, as well as the same staff that have been serving you for many years. In addition, there will be absolutely no change in the manner in which your share accounts are insured. Both institutions maintain federal insurance with the National Credit Union Administration up to $250,000.

Online and mobile banking services, which will allow members to conduct their financial transactions from anywhere in the world

The credit union office hours are Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Friday 8am to 2pm and closed on Thursdays for in-person traffic. We will still be processing electronic transactions, phone, and email requests but from a remote location. Phone messages will be retrieved on an hourly basis during our business hours of 8 am to 2 pm. We appreciate your business.

If you need to obtain more than the normal $300 cash limit at an ATM, or temporarily increase your Point of Sale limit on your debit card, please leave a message at 410-337-1319 or email us at sjmccreditunion@umm.edu with your request and a call back number.

Mobile and Online Banking is the fastest and most convenient way to do many of your banking needs. Once you have completed the enrollment on the website you can download our mobile app. It is easy and the credentials are the same, no need to establish another password.

If you don’t have internet access, you may call the office at 410-337-1319 and leave a detailed message. You can make a payment on your loan by providing your routing number and account number for the institution from which we will be taking the money. If requesting a withdrawal from your account it will be issued as a check and mailed to the address on file. If you need to update your address it can be done on Home Banking or email to sjmccreditunion@umm.edu.

To process either a loan payment or withdrawal via email, be sure to utilize the secured message option on Home Banking if providing your detailed account information.
